I am delighted to have recently been appointed Programme Director for the Year of Irish Design 2015.
As Programme Director I will be responsible for curating, leading and managing Irish Design 2015. The overall goal of this major government initiative is to increase the awareness, understanding and use of design in Irish society, and to promote Irish design capability internationally, in order to sustain employment and generate new jobs in the sector. Irish Design 2015 forms part of the Irish Government’s Action Plan for Jobs and includes all major design disciplines, with events taking place throughout Ireland and internationally. The initiative is being convened by the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI), in collaboration with partner organisations, on behalf of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation and Enterprise Ireland.
The project provides the opportunity to develop a truly global profile and outlook for Irish Design, and contribute to the economic health and cultural life of Ireland and beyond.
